Indian ban on rape film is 'international suicide', says director
The film, India’s daughter was broadcasted in Britain
last week on BBC4 and many youtube users have recorded the programme on the
website. It is now available on iplayer and the police has said that the ban
was imposed as the comments made in the film by one of those who were convicted
of the crime created a negative atmosphere of fear and tension.
I think that this is correct as rape films are emotional
subject film directors to be exploring. Many feminists would argue that rape is
something that females find hard to talk about and making a film based on
rape doesn't make it any easier.
